India – Tripura – Bru community: IDPs of Mizoram.
Background of the IDPs:
In 1997, about 33,000 people of the Bru community were displaced from Mizoram, due to the ethnic conflicts with the Mizos, since then they have been sheltered in six camps at Kanchanpur in North Tripura district. People’s fate remains undecided as the Mizoram government shows little interest in restoring dialogue that would facilitate their return.
